Wax Carving
For thousands of years the process of wax carving and casting in various forms has been at the heart of jewelry making. While advancements in technology have produced alternatives on the computer and 3d printing, there are times that there are no substitutes for the skill of a carver in the traditional hand style of carving the model from a block of wax. Our wax carvers in Bali are renowned for their abilities in the artistic and sensitive process of creating art by adding and subtracting wax as needed to create the design.
Generally the tools used are very similar if not the same as a dentist uses combined with a soldering iron for the wax and a flame for smoothing surfaces. Carving by hand is truly an art form and the core element in Flow Jewelry Studio‘s process of bringing our clients’ designs and collections to life.
